I used to do the day list. I should really get back to it because the week list is fine as long as it realistically represents 7 day lists and not just "I so wish I could complete all this in a week" and then attack it frenetically at every opportunity.

I need to be happy at the end of the day/week - that I see what I did do and not all the things that I didn't.

Hahaha, I like the "PS He was a dick" bit. It was interesting to see snapshots of time where he wrote one thing and then just wasn't that but it was more the being referred to as "baby" that was so revolting I had to bin it. Don't want anyone thinking I actually answered to that.

Oh, and when it comes to that relationship, you totally want your grandkids to hear YOUR version of events. Imagine if one of them happened across the letters and thought that guy was the true love of your life?

Ewwwww.

Context is important!

if you keep them you should totally put them in a box with a note of your own in it saying 'PS he was a dick."

Ooooh or write your own 'girlfriend's commentary' but that would require far too much investment of time. Would be hilarious item in a museum, though.

I find after years and years of being freelance one way or another, the only way to cope is to make a manageable sublist of tasks for one day.

You could even think about doing an essentials list (somewhere between 3-8 items depending on how much of the day is available) and tell yourself that yes, that's enough. But if you manage ONE more thing from a bonus list, that's an awesome day.

I don't do spreadsheets, I have a scrappy post it on my desktop, but I always assemble a new list for that day, based on how much time I have available (sometimes it's a 'full' day of 4-5 hours, sometimes as little as 1 hour), how much energy, etc.

It's really important to let yourself be done for the day! Small achievable goals are the secret to happiness.
