Oddly enough, coming out the other side, with kids who are mostly self-organising (I need to do some things, but they keep providing the impetus. Such as 'have you ordered my ... yet?"), I'm finding that keeping myself going on organisation is much harder. For example, instead of planning a single major shop, we've gone back to the habits I had as a single, where several key foodstuffs are used to trigger shopping events - such that between the lot of us we might be shopping more than 5 times in a week.

I'm wondering though, having read your post, whether I've managed to internalise some kinds of organisation, such that I don't even notice them. I'm probably much more on the 'everything has a place, 90% of the time, 90% of the stuff is in the right one" [I'm aiming for 100%. But when I walk in the door with four things in my hands, one of which is a basket that needs unpacking, something has to be put down before the rest can be dealt with, and given my attention span, I've usually gone on to other tasks before I've finished the putting away].

I hear you. I am finding a real need for organisation and thinking ahead this year with Zac starting school. Funny how I can be flexible but he can't be. He needs his uniform and his lunch and not to arrive late at school. This means I am ready earlier too, as I refuse to stoop as low as dropping my son at school without having a shower etc (it is early days though!)
I am still in a transition phase but hopefully it becomes moe relaxed soon.
Good luck!
