Well, its a couple of days ago now and I have been discussing it elsewhere but here are my thoughts on the first ep of the new season. lj-cut text=”Angel”
I don’t like Connor. I do, however, love the qualities he brings out in Angel. The way Angel was i nstantly *there* when Connor turned on Fred and Gunn. And the “I love you. Now get out of my house.” Brilliant!! And of course, the “what’s a couple of months at the bottom of the ocean. A girlfriend once sent me to a hell dimension for 100 years”. (apolo gies for the paraphrase) And this is of course the ongoing theme of “Hell. Been there.”

Other things I liked:
-the possibility of Lilah sleeping with Wesley not for career gain. Like, she might like him or something.
-the Wesley/Angel slash. Ties in with another ongoing theme, or perhaps group, of the number of people willing to let Angel feed on them. It *could* just be me, but there was something reminiscent of a mother-suckling-her-young in the way he dramatically pulled out a knife and ceremoniousl y cut his wrist. I wish though that he’d fed Angel Justine. But she might have left a yucky taste in his mouth.
-the idea that a vampire can go for eternity without feeding but it mucks up his head
-Lorne!!! And the boa!!! And the crypticness of his phonecall. Anyone else think it was supposed to be a clue to Angel’s whereabouts??

and… all time best bit
-Cordelia ascending to a higher level and being bored!!!

Things I hated:
-Connor
-Fred and Gunn. There’s absolutely NO chemistry and I don’t care! I ne ver needed love stories in Angel. It doesn’t need them.
-interaction between Fred and Connor. There’s just something icky there. It could be also that she doesn’t look old enough to parent him.

and all time ickiest bit:
-Cordelia and Angel kissing. No No No No No!!!!
It could be a reaction to having spent the last little while catching the bf up and watching the first 3 seasons of Buffy. But it’s just plain wrong. Wrong I tell you. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Yay. After the long wait with the whole, iWhat is Spikedoing?/i Buffy is finally back.

Comments behind my lj-cut text=”cut tag”

So I was a little apprehensive going into Season 7. I didn’t think Season 6 was their best ever and I’d heard there was going to be a iDawn in High School/i focus and I wasn’t really sure I was going to be into that.

Behold, the beginning of the episode throws us into a Buffy playing Mom and Xander and Buffy playing house scenario… they try to distract you with t h e iI made cereal/i comment. But *I* could not look away. Anyway, I will save anymore bitching for Spike’s hair, which was, well, um, you can tell he’s in quite an emotional state, nonetheless.

But seriously. I’m back! That was the creepiest episo d e I’ve seen i n a while. I was really quite scared and had to watch Dark Angel straight after to forget about the manifested spirits before I went to bed. I maintain anything that appears in the mirror but not behind you is damned scary (see that X-Files episode where Scully gets out of the shower and looks in the mirror…).

And I loved the link at the end between the manifested spirits (who are legacies of the past and past episodes) and Spike and each of the Season’s nemeses. As though the whole ser i es has been on one large arc. Bring it on!!!!/lj-cut/
