So, it turns out, if you make a list of all the things you really genuinely want to do, you don’t even have to follow it or make yourself do it. And it might be that you accidentally do things that are on the list when you thought in fact they weren’t.
Let’s see. I slept in. Not too hard at the moment as the drugs knock me around a bit. And takes a while for my vision to clear when I am up. But I figure rest must be doing my body good, right? Even if it’s enforced. I got to work on my list and then C’s parents came round. I love having people over but I wish I could get a chance to finish unpacking and have the house at a standard I am happy with. It feels like people look at it all and think “not that great a housekeeper”. Which to be fair, is not a goal of mine so I shouldn’t mind if I don’t excel at it. (People don’t tend to look at the books I’ve publish and do the maths that I’ve traded housekeeping for publishing). On the upside, we did get impromptu plumbing support which is exciting. And once C completes the decontamination procedures, we shall have two working toilets again. Which actually, I don’t think I’ve had for well over a year.
How am I going on the list?
- Read Mockingjay
Halfway through and OMG it is breaking my heart all the way through. But also there is lots to see to compare it to Twilight. And also, sometimes the worldbuilding doesn’t hold for me.
- Work on Twelve Planets
Not started. Other than filling new orders and coordinating some emails.
- Update ASif!
Complete. Edited about 15 or 20 reviews. Still have backend admin to sort.
- Work on paperwork
Not started
- Fix some of the tweaks and additions to the new Twelfth Planet Press website (which has shopping software that i LOVE)
In progress.
- Finish unpacking in the lounge
Well *I* can tell I’ve made ground even if noone else can. Tomorrow I tackle the last of the kitchenware.
- Reorganise the kitchen
Will occur naturally after point above.
- Finish sorting The Craft
Begun.
- Start a new pair of socks
Not yet begun!
- Listen to Brenda Dayne’s Knitter’s Manifesto
Enjoyed two of the tracks so far. And helping me to want to start both socks and a new shawl. She is such an enabler!
- Finish Season 1 of Life on Mars (UK)
No. Watched two episodes of Dr Who Season 4 instead. Meh
- Bake something
Totally forgot this was on the list but had to pop to the shops and randomly bought some ingredients for cheese cake. Weird.
I have worked something out that had been bothering me. I didn’t like how I’ve stopped crafting altogether. It’s not usual for me to be working on nothing. But then I started inhaling books and I wondered if all the time that I was giving to reading was in place of working on knitting or quilting. I’ve realised that I *am* crafting – I am unpacking, sorting, culling, and setting up my house. And that’s creative in a different way but creative all the same. And it involves setting up my craft equipment so that I can take stock and then pick up a new project. That made me feel better.
And then, I am obviously just starting to unwind because I’ve been thinking about starting a pair of socks and also starting work on a new lace shawl. And pottering around the kitchen baking for fun. Dreaming of a new project is fun in itself. And I know in part this has come from listening to the 100th (and final in its current form) Cast On episode on the drive home on Friday and also Brenda’s Knitter’s Manifesto. But hey, that’s why I love her show.
